Ridiculous , this man is getting 3 years for speaking crap.
OK as much as I hate Shoah deniers , I do not think for that they need jail time .
They should be treated as every other guilty of serious libel/slander , sued for damages , which would possibly run into the billions .
That is enough , ruin them financially and ruin their reputations , they do not need to be brutalised in prison.

  • Legislating what can or cannot be said is a lot like defining whether or not you can make pictures of Mohammed. Being stupid, in and of itself, shouldn't be a crime.

    The Holocaust was a horrible event and I understand why people get very upset when others try to deny its existence. However, legislating it away will, imho, only make stupid people say, "See, they're jailing people who say it didn't happen. They must be trying to hide something from us."

      In jail he will have to deal with all the Jewish extremists in Austria that are incarcerated .. oh all 1 of them .
      I have read many cases like that .. the view that Jews orchestrated the Shoah is particularly insane . OH I know lets get ourselves a homeland by killing 1/3 of the Jewish population .. instead of using that 1/3 to invade a country , which would have been much easier

    I deny there should be any punishment for them at all. It's not libel or slander because he's not ruining anyone's reputation, per se. By giving these people the light of day, you give them credibility with the underground scene. They will feel they've become underdogs, and thus they are heroes, which boosts their credibility in their own ideas, which leads to a vicious cycle.

    You're right that he shouldn't be in prison. He should be on the outside where everyone is free to laugh at the shite that comes out of his mouth.

    The holocaust denial laws are just as archaic and pointless as the UK law regarding blasphemy. Neither have a place in a modern democratic society.

      What he needs is a long intensive course in actual history
      • Agreed, he needs a course in history and perhaps some serious mental rehabilition. Most of all, he needs to be shown to be wrong and marginalised through reasonable arguments.

        If someone feels that they have been slandered then civil action should take place. I don't think the law should mark certain subjects as taboo unless the person making the statements can be reasonably proven to be trying to incite others to break the law.

          The existence of G-d is unprovable so you are free to say what you want and make money off of it , however the Shoah is well documented and has the highest forms of evidence .

          • In a roundabout way I suppose he has been punished for fraud. In a previous court case he was shown to be a liar and his reputation left in tatters. I see him as being similar to David Icke. Both are widely considered to be anti-semitists who are the laughing-stock of the rational world. Taken seriously only by the poorly educated or people who already hate Jews and simply want to find a way to justify their irrational position.
