Journal FidelCatsro's Journal: 5 reasons : Why technocrat is dangerous 5

http://www.technocrat.net/
Is a Threat to Slashdots way of life and here is why

5: No Trolls , How are you meant to understand who is evil without a gage , god technocrat sucks for this . We need Trolls to amuse and insult us , make our days worse . Without them we are lost scared children

4: Low comment counts , We are forced to actually read articles and get an honest informed view on the subject . Because of the low post counts we can not piece it together from information other people who have not read the article and have guessed at the content.

3: Lack of sensationalist headlines , How are we meant to get in a rage state if the site is lacking in real sensationalism . We do not have the right to misrepresent information in a way to bolster up rage .
And if us Apple / OSS / Linux / BSD fans are not constantly trolled for being Fanbois how are we ever meant to know that "enjoying using something and telling others about it" is pathetic

2: Lack of moderation , How on earth are we meant to know what a post means if we don't have the +x Blah next to it . It means I have to read the comment thoroughly and use my brain .
This is despicable , how are we ordinary humans meant to derive context and meaning from things without pigeon holes.

1: Editing , Because of the work of the Technocrat editors and staff we have a scary situation.
There are no dupes of note , The articles are were represented and care is apparently taken .
You people at Technocrat are ruining the easy lives of slashdot editors .If you keep this up , they may actually have to also edit.

For those of you who did not get the fact i was a tad satirical in the above piece . Please Send me 10 EUR to my paypal account for immediate therapy .

Many thanks to Zogger ,Current Shunts and of course Mr Bruce Perens .. Who i think has something to do with the site ;)

5 reasons : Why technocrat is dangerous

Comments Filter:
  • 1.) It doesn't have the size nor community feel that slashdot has.

And that's it. What sucks the mostest is that slashdot has this huge community even though it sucks and no one will be able to compete with them until they get a giant audience.
    • One of Slashdots biggest advantages is one of its biggest failings ,
Though that technocrat bit i wrote points out , to me , some of technocrats greatest advantages over slashdot.
Most of the problems I point out about slashdot can be fixed , you can't easily cull the membership though.
I prefer faceless moderation as i like to read more highly commented stories at a higher threshold to cut out the crap but i don't like the insightful/ funny/ etc. ratings.

The editors really need to take a step back and fix
    • The intent is not for competition. It is an alternative much like digg.com. It might seem counter-intuitive but the larger the user base the less precise the subject matter expertise becomes. Technocrat presently is fueled primarily by Zogger as he deserves the credit for consistency and input energy.
  • I think Technocrat is getting better. We have a nice growing membership, and are getting more article submissions lately. I'd love for there to be ten articles a day that I could post along with the ones I put up. I don't think dozens and dozens would be good, but a bit more than now might approach a sweet spot. and especially original pieces, those are always good. Well, I like them....

Unlike a lot of people at /. or T.net, I don't work at a screen all day, so sometimes I miss critical break
    • I like the lack of AC , The disadvantages really outweigh the advantages of having them. ;) I don't work at a screen all day either , most of the time I'm slacking off in front of a screen heh.
Anyhow , keep up the good work. Breaking news instantly is not really something really needed on a tech site , most of the time the only up to the minute news tends to be press releases and PR jobs .
So no great loss anyway ;)
