I have been thinking about this, now current methods (ala the no more trolls system) do not effectivly work ,for a few reasons .

1:Ignoring an infection does not make it go away

2:These systems are always very open to abuse , some of the people on these lists are not offenders , they are simply people who made a joke once or that someone had a vendeta against .Always hapens and always will ,

3: these systems go unatended and people get left on these lists , I do not wish to permenently ignore someone for a single mistake they made , people change and drop these tags

what i have been doing , is responding whenever i browse past a fake sig and adding to the end of my post something about how the credibility of the parent post is ruined due to the spam , This has worked in alot of case's .
I dont get marked down as i ussualy try to stay as on topic as possible and relevant (ps this one was a nugget http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=144160&cid=12080868) to avoid getting myself marked as a troll .MY intention is not to troll these people , but to make others aware of their abuse of the system to avoid these people getting marked up , as they ussualy will karma whore .I do not see this as the best way to handel it so i shall open this discusion up .

Oh if you ever do have mod points , and if you want to help, spare one of them to mod these people down as offtopic or troll .

  • Interestly, the point of fake sigs, or even normal sigs ruining a post, came up recently.

    I added Amsterdam Vallon (639622) to my foes list are some consideration. He (I'm calling he/she he for the sake of making this readable), posted a reasonable post added this bit of text below the posting.

    I looked at more his posts and noticed that he seems to be copying and pasting this to the end of most of his posts.

    • I agree with you on that one , that is a highly inflamitory issue , perhaps i would not see that if i agreed with him although i like to see myself as able to rise above my views on times and be unbiased ... though i digress

      • Yeah, I think it's up to you if you want to include things in your sig but when you bring up emotive issues like this and force people to read them as part of your post, it crosses the line.

        Yeah, I hope they finally let her die. It's a shame that the whole thing was turned in to a media circus. I agree, the last thing we want is this thing being dragged in to an unrelated conversation.

        • ;) i know the feeling , Ive got a reputation for having some extremly liberal left wing view points , so have to tone myself down in the company of some people , as i have alot of freinds who are Right wing or midle of the road people who disagree with my points strongly so i dont wish to start fights.
          A time and a place for everything , a Tech website is not really the place nor the time for the morality of Euthinasia(a good thing ;) ) or turning off the machine on some poor vegitive state person.
