Journal Journal: New Escalation In The Malware War

The war for control of your computer may be about to enter a whole new level of complexity. Security researcher Joanna Rutkowska has announced that she has created technology which can subvert any computer operating system running on newer X64 hardware. This new technology, dubbed "Blue Pill", uses hardware virtualization support built into 64 bit AMD processors. With Blue Pill, an active operating system can be separated from the computer's hardware and placed into a virtual machine environment. Theoretically, Blue Pill also could work with 64 bit Intel processors that support hardware virtualization. http://www.spywareinfo.com/newsletter/archives/2006/july17.php#bluepill

Journal Journal: Chip Magazine Gives SpyAxe

Famous PC Magazine Chip , in its Turkish edition June issue, gave it's readers the infamous rogue antispyware software, "SpyAxe" with it's eChip CD. And the editor noted that, SpyAxe is a good anti-spyware to remove all kinds of malware. A Turkish information security group responded this mistake and demanded an apology to Chip readers. The apology was much more interesting, Chip Turkey's director said that, in June issue we had an article about rogue anti-spyware threats and put this malware to our cd as a sample. The only mistake was we mistakenly wrote "it is a good software" to the CD user interface.
