Or should I say commercial propaganda ? Windows has not changed essentially since WNT 3.51. What we got with XP, Vista, Win7, Win8-without-Windows and Win10 was just re-fashioned GUIs. In any case, the Linux kernel is more efficient than the Windows kernel. Starting processes, traversing the files system - things like that. That is a major reason Linux is so successful.

Linux and FOSS is "all so confusing", because it is not a single target your billions can corrupt, corrode and eventually destroy. Rather, the FOSS world is very resilient and can suffer the destruction of any single project. You corrupt the Linux kernel ? No problem, we have OpenBSD waiting in the wings. You corrupt LibreOffice ? No problem, we have LaTeX, GNUmeric and many others.

Regarding your F.U.D. about different flavours of Linux: this is 99% of hyperbole mixed with 1% of truth. Linux GUIs are more similar to each other than the crazy stuff MSFT pushed after Windows 7. Windows 8 was actually "Windows OS without Windows on the screen". Mr Shuttleworth tried equally insane stuff and the FOSS community simply routed around Shuttleworth products. THAT is what makes FOSS great - we are not shackled to the insane ideas of a single product designer at MSFT or Canonical. If someone messes up, we simply switch to a proper alternative.

You Microsofters know very well that FOSS is a credible and in many cases more economical (looking at TCO, not just initial investment) alternative to the Windows sphere. That is why you spread lies, doubts, fear with all your propaganda operatives.

Poor MSFT, now comes along Linux, which is more efficient, cheaper, better and they can realize their dream of making a Gazillion dollars of profit. They only make 0,9*Gazillion in profit. Boooohoooo !
