I give you MH42 with a fascinating interpretation of thermodynamics in arguing for renewable energy sources:

...Remove energy from the wind and you'll make storms less violent. Remove energy from the sun, and you gain shade to be under. Remove energy from the ground, and if you're carefull, you might just PREVENT a supervolcano by removing pressure from the fault lines. Got to be carfull with that last though- or you'll cause earthquakes and supervolcanos instead.

I had to save that. Pity it isn't Tuesday.

EDIT: I should point out that, as I argued elsewhere in that same journal discussion, I'm very much in favor of investing in renewable energy technologies for a variety of reasons (economic, political and environmental). But the above statement is, ahhh, not how I would go about arguing in favor.

  • Apparently you didn't see this [slashdot.org] post by one of my alters in reponse to this [slashdot.org] post by one of squiggleslash's alters in this [slashdot.org] thread during last Tuesday's live comedy performance by eno2001 and squiggleslash. BTW, I didn't post this. I did.

      • you screwed up at least twice and weren't logged in on the right account wehn replying to yourself :) I suggest you set up bookmarks within firefox to say 'apple.slashdot.org' and say 'bsd.slashdot.org' and set up firefox to 'remember all for this site yada yada' with 1 account on apple and the other account on bsd, and then you can just go to the bookmark, click a logout click a login, and then reply to yourself easily.

          and you forgot the most important thing TO USE TABS, why would i waste space on my bookmarks list when i can have 2 tabs one set to yro.slashdot.org and one tab set to hardware.slashdot.org and instantly click 'log out' and 'log in' now go home to your mommy you pathetic looser with a 9xx,xxx UID :p

          • actually i wasn't paying attention ^^; i just noticed that at my threshold it was alternating except for a few points where you were replying to yourself. and it looked like the argument was a very well contrived argument with oneself. but hey if you're different people that's fine, slashdot is easy to have mpd ;) you're only limited by the number of topic .slashdot.org for the number of 'instantly' accessable w/out any special scripting or tools..
