Journal Em Emalb's Journal: Hang him from the Tree of Woe 4
If you had told me the Bears would get spotted 20 points on the Saints, I'd of said it was a no-brainer they'd win. GAH. I couldn't believe it. Well, I knew the Saints were good. I know this goes against conventional wisdom, but even with all the turn-overs caused, Urlacher, Colvin, and Brown, the Bears dreaded D isn't that good.
There are holes and weaknesses I hadn't seen. (For those of you watching at home, I work on sundays and usually get the game on nfl.com streamed to me. This was the first game I watched them play in all year.) Anyhow, to sum up, the Mighty D of Chicago is hurting. We need to get our corner backs back. Ted Washington is out probably for the year, if not for the rest of his career, and that's a big void too. The bottom line, we gave up way too many pashing yards, and TO killed us. Oh well, only week 3, they will get better.
On to the good stuff.
EM is 10-3 so far. How about those Browns? And Carolina pulling one out too. Are they the real deal? Ah well, could be better, and I should have picked the Saints to win, but I explained that in the last football JE. I didn't see any highlights from the game, but I was surprised at the score of the Green Bay-Detroit game. Em predicts Detroit goes 5-11 this year. Just watch
OK, you can come rip me and the Bears now
Wait, am I really 12-1?? (Score:2)
Rock on, me! (Of course, since all my pool picks involve the spread, I got nailed on GB, NE, and my Giants -- but caught the Buffalo one)
Uh, go Rams. Sorta.
Hehe! (Score:2)
The one game I wish I was wrong on: New England over KC. Man, New England still hasn't played a good team. The teams they beat are one special teams TD and a thrown helmet away from having no wins! Let's see how Brady stacks up against Miami and New Orleans. If they can hold those teams down, then I'll give him some dap.
Still a hearbreaker though for Chicago. I feel ya man. How many games did the Browns end up losing in the last 5 minutes last year? Four? Seattle, Chicago, New England and the infamous Jacksonville game. Any others? And injuries are hitting us again on the O-line. Some teams get no luck.
Of course I'm biased... (Score:2)
...in wanting the Bears to lose, but you've got to admit: for as many times as they've come back to win games like this, they had to lose one sooner or later.
Not that my Pack lit it up either... they escaped with their lives. Next week is no picnic either. We'll get to see if Carolina is for real.
11-2 isn't too shabby, except it wasn't good enough to win our pool; there are four tied at 12-1.
