Foxconn is in Brazil for serveral years. The main problem of water was reported as a temporary supply problem from the public water system, not Foxconn fault.

The second biggest problem was reported about the buses being overcrowded. This is most probably because Foxconn hired a lot of workes recently to increase its production and the guy responsible for transportation made a lousy job to handle the extra workers.

Also, the union president said the strike is very unlikely because Foxconn said it was already taking care of the situation. They aren't striking for salaries, bonus, or anything else related. The union just made a warning for Foxconn to act quickly.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2 had the same problem. Unfortunately, EA will get away from this since they were not expecting to have a Mass Effect 4. The Mass Effect brand is damaged, so what? They made a quick buck and that's how it works there. I saw studio after studio being sucked dry by EA and Bioware is no different. I suggest you all never pre-order something EA branded until you get player comments about it. You can't even trust "professional" game reviews of the game (like it happened with ME3).

Not really, PhD is like a valid visa to work anywhere in the world. You can do a crappy PhD and still be granted for something like the USA EB-1. There is a whole PhD degree business going on and little practical research being done.
