You're not concerned.
Contrary to what the summary said, it's not a tax for artist.

The problem is twofold :
- Google France declares to the french IRS 40 000 000 of revenues, while 800 000 000 coming from french companies are declared in Ireland to evade french taxes. Basically, if french money is good enough for Google to open some offices in France, they should pay taxes.
- Content providers (the like of Slashdot lemonde.fr whatever) have seen their ad revenue decrease. There is doubts on whether it comes from Google abusing it's more thant 65% market share on internet ad network.

Some info in french :

(Though, they're wrong on the practice being legal, it's just really hard to prove and estimate for the state)

Feed Engadget: Mattel drops new details on I Can Play educational guitar (engadget.com)

Filed under: Misc. Gadgets, Portable Audio

While the most of us get our shred on via one version of Guitar Hero or another, Mattel is trying to preserve our offsprings' minds a little while longer with a more educationally-inclined toy axe. Originally mentioned at the International Toy Fair, the I Can Play instrument is slated to land this August for $99.99 and will boast the Allegro Multimedia Guitar Wizard Method for learning licks. Furthermore, the guitar will come bundled with a cartridge featuring "six popular songs" to play along with (additional ones will be $14.99 apiece), and rather than just single buttons being placed on the fretboard, the more complex sensor layout is said to be more akin to a real-world six-string. Notably, Mattel and Allegro both assert that this device can be used by kiddos as young as six years old, but we see no reason why those struggling through a mid-life crisis can't relive their own rock fantasies once the children head off to bed.

Submission + - New Mexico secedes, might declare Pluto Planet

pease1 writes: "Wired and others are reporting for New Mexico, the fight for Pluto is not over. Seven months after a conclave of scientists downgraded the distant heavenly body to a "dwarf planet," a state representative in New Mexico aims to give the snubbed world back some of its respect. State lawmakers will vote Tuesday on a bill that proposes "as Pluto passes overhead through New Mexico's excellent night skies, it be declared a planet." Actual wording of the resolution.

For many of us old timers and those who had the honor of meeting Clyde, this just causes a belly of laughs and is pure fun. Not to mention a bit of poking sticking in the eye."
Debian

Journal Journal: My first journal entry: my current linux distro is MEPIS

If anyone is interested, it is based on debian, use KDE as the default desktop, includes openoffice, firefox, acrobat reader, and other applications.
Flash and Java are enabled.
Its hardware detection is top notch (on my pavillion zd7000, the only thing that it didn't detect properly was the odd resolution: 1440x900).
Instalation is a breeze, it's a liveCD and you install from the KDE environment.
finaly the CD can be used to restore X and GRUB.
