Gnome 3 is for people who don't really use their computer and want it to look like a phone. I abandoned Gnome 3 shortly after gnome 3 came out and gnome removed their feedback section rather then hear that nobody liked gnome 3.

If you really want to make Fedora better get rid of gnome3.

Why waste time trying to make gnome3 look different. I gained nothing when I shifted to gnome3 and lost a lot. I shifted to mint w/cinnamon and see no reason to go back. I found that everything I did in gnome3 took more steps...ie more clicks, more resizing, more drilling down, and on top of it all one additional click that does nothing more then get you off that stupid, useless page that is your faux desktop. For me and the way I use my computers this is not a step forward, but two steps back. If gnome3 was on a smart phone, or a tablet, and I ran one application at a time, always full screen, it would be pretty, and get the job done. But I run this on a desktop computer with fair horse power, lots of memory, and with a BIG monitor, just so that I can have several things going on at once and see them all without a lot of dragging, drilling down, resizing, and general piddling around every time I sit down. I can do everything I need to with Gnome3, it is just more work. Not sure what the gnome folks were thinking. I've heard it said that they were enamored with OS-X, don't know. However at work I have a very nice brand new iMac with Lion on it, and it is much easier to use and has a very different orientation then gnome3.

The smallest is is dual core P4 with 3gb of memory and a 22 inch flat screen monitor. The largest is a 64 bit quad core (intel) with 4gb of memory and a 27 inch monitor.

I was able to get rid of most of the dumb stuff in gnome3, and return Fedora 16 to a useful state by adding cinnamon.

I didn't say I had not used it, I said the last Windows I bought (meaning for my own use) was Windows 98. At work, our product runs FreeBSD, and I have a brand new iMac that I love. But I also have a Windows 7 computer there that I use for testing our product with IE. Windows 7 is their best effort, but I still prefer OS-X or Linux. Not too happy though, with the interface in Fedora 15. I think they fixed something that was not broken. I agree with you about Window 8, ugh!

The last Windows I bought was Windows 98. I have used Linux, OS-X, or FreeBSD since and see no reason to go back.

Right on. I'd love a free computer as long as I could wipe it and install what I wanted.
