Agreed, I'm certainly not a pro and I shoot in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Negative_(file_format) My old Canon Point and Shoot would save a raw file with a firmware hack, but there wasn't much extra data to save from that tiny sensor. That is one time when shooting RAW doesn't really buy you anything - when the sensor isn't recording much more than is in the jpg.
