I never said that the protests should have been suppressed, but public health professionals publicly supported and promoted them while actively standing against all other sorts of gatherings. DC hosted a giant funeral for a politician while people couldn't have more than a handful of people at their family members' funerals. The hypocrisy drove and continues to drive doubts about the real motivations of the institutions.

This is not a conservative position. It's the reality position. Being woke doesn't protect you from getting sick and spreading a virus, and lying about it to promote your political ideology just creates more distrust. Look, I'm a proponent of vaccines and believe they offer immense benefit to society. But mandates are a hammer being used to swat a fly. Many large US states with significant gun ownership rejected vaccine mandates entirely, yet they never had any such crisis of hospital capacity. Stop sowing FUD.

There was never any scientific basis for mandating vaccination with a vaccine that does not prevent transmission of the virus. The only reason for those mandates was the exercise of power.
