This doesn't fall under software so maybe it is off topic but who cares. O'reilly books has a service called safari where you pay a monthly fee (9.99 for access to 5 books a month) and have access to a large online library of books that they sell in bookstores. What is important is that they realize that books cost money to print and when they offer the same versions for download they are significantly cheaper. If shareware authors could offer a similiar model
perhaps something to the tune of pay 15.00 a month for access to a slaughterhouse/tucows type repository of shareware only you could download a limited amount of full versions a month, maybe 2 or 3 for the basic 15 dollar membership.
Those are my two cents about shareware but I'd like to add that it seems like a lot of you a riding the software high horse and I wouldn't be at all surprised to find mp3s and other digital media files littering most of you hdds. And either way you're depriving the artist wether he/she be a programmer or a muscian.
