Of course they needed to try some damage control, while also trying to balance everything againt China.
It is quite amusing to read the wikipedia edits againt Activision Blizzard ( https://en.wikipedia.org/w/ind...), from before they locked the page, and also the edits of the page of the chinese company Tencent, that owns 5% of Activision Blizzard ( https://en.wikipedia.org/w/ind...).
I was also quite amused to see the traditional Starcraft II ingame greeting start to change from "gl hf" (good luck have fun), to "gl fhk" (good luck free hong kong), yesterday evening, in various ladder and arcade games :-) And the thing is, such behaviour can easily stick for years.
But trying to balance it out, especially after last years unfortunate Blizzcon announcements (remember stock reactions: https://www.netcials.com/stock...), is just not really an option. They have to completely reverse their behaviour, if they want a Blizzcon 2019, that will actually win over fans. Especially considering the probable chance that they are going to announce new greedy conglomerate moneysucking ingame strategies for their current and future development.
