Couldn't agree more. When you take switching all transportation and all building heat over to electricity at a affordable price, nuclear is the answer. The problem is that we haven't thrown the resources and will behind the Gen IV reactors.

I've been batting around the idea of say 2 or 5 universities with a group of graduate students under say a CS prof or two at each university maintaining a particular package by discussion and consensus. Haven't bounced it around that much yet but it seems to be worth some discussion. Good experience for the students, probably way better documented as undergrads could be enlisted for both programming and end user documentation. Maybe in conjunction with interested people or companies?

There are treaties between the US and Canada governing the removal of water from the Great Lakes. It helps prevent little things like ships going aground or having to carry lighter loads. No reason now that Canada can't start removing water as well. Let's drain those suckers.
