Journal Degrees's Journal: Almost at the end of .NET training 4

We are taking Microsoft Course 2373, which is pretty in-depth. A couple hours to go, and then the manager of the programmers and I will be heading back up home. It will be a 3 - 4 hour drive, and of course getting out of L.A. on a Friday evening is sometimes tough.

.NET is seriously impressive. The Internet Architect version has a Visio component that sucks in your database and diagrams its schema. We don't know if we can afford it (ten programmers at $2,300 each) - but what it can do is astounding.

Almost at the end of .NET training

  • Is the Internet Architect sorta like the Architect guy in The Matrix?
    • My mistake - that was supposed to be Enterprise Architect. I guess I just can't tell the difference between the internet and enterprise.

Hmmmm... Johnny Carson used to have a skit called Carmac the Magician. First, you got the answer.

      "Enterprise Architect".

      Then, you got the question.

"What would Rick Berman call the .NET program he had written to generate 'outside shot' CGI?"

I think there ought to be a better punchline, something about What do you call the victor of a championship coding bout between Wil

  • I work in Irvine and I am sorry I missed giving you some pointers of where to hang [if you had the time] and maybe meeting up and having a drink at Dave and Busters [alcoholic or otherwise] and killing some [digitized] things. So how did the class/es go? Our company is [read IT dept] not ready to roll out with anything past MS 2K yet. I would like to hear what you got out of the class, maybe a JE? If you are ever down by my way again, give me a heads up and if I'm not swamped like the last couple 'o' weeks,
    • That would have been cool. The manager of the programmers and I went looking for places to eat each evening - I think he would have been fine with meeting somewhere. The people at the City of Irvine gave us some pointers as to where to eat, but we didn't do anything special. Wanted to go to Houston's, but couldn't get reservations - mind you, not for the restaurant, for the parking lot. ;-)

I'll do a JE on the training in a little bit. There is a chance we will get to do another, this time on ASP.NET - alth
