Journal Degrees's Journal: Teachers fess up to cluelessness 5

Well, the Teachers Union does at least. And really - it was just the one person, the chairman of the P.A.C. (although other people surely knew and said things).

What, we have to keep track of donations?

Sigh.

Both my parents were/are teachers - so I know how hard the job can be. But the Teachers Union has always been a huge disappointment. An object of ridicule even. This doesn't help.

  • Our congregation is fairly new and few, so our church is held in a public school that we rent.

There was a sign on one of the tables in the school letting folks know they needed to pick up food goods before they go bad, "Please Take Parishables Home."
    • I suppose the kindest thing to do would be to email the principal and suggest he have someone check the spelling on that sign.

Considering the content, it might have been written by custodial staff. Although that doesn't excuse anyone if the sign is permanent.

Speaking of permanence, thirty years ago, my city put in its first sidewalk intersection corners (concrete) with grooves in them for the blind. Being the first set....

Take the perpendicular angle describing streets north-south and east-west. Bisect

      • I know it's a little late to respond, but the sign was actually referring to stuff to be picked up for a cookie dough sale done by the school. And it was done in one of those glass enclosed display cases that typically only teachers use. Which made it that much more sad....
        • Never too late to respond - it's not like this is a race or anything. ;-)

And you are 100% correct - it is sad when even teachers cannot spell, nor the other teachers that read the sign feel the need to correct it....

Of course, it would be worse if none of them recognized the error. Could happen. I'm going to just hope that no teachers (other than the person who wrote out the sign) visit that room. (Most teachers eat at their desks, to give themselves and the kids a break).
