Everything added since Mojave has been somewhere between "meh" and "do not want". I'll stick to my 10.14 until the current MacBook falls apart.
The next TurboTax (in 2022, for 2021 tax year) will require 10.15 as the minimum OS version.
The problem is that e-ink displays need to be refreshed quite often or they suffer from "burn-in". If you leave for weeks without a refresh then it's doing to develop really dirty whites.
Do you have a source for this? I have three e-ink ebook readers, all of which go to some standard display when turned off, and I sometimes leave them off for weeks. I've never seen any "burn-in" on any of them.
If anyone has any suggestions for e-ink readers that are not vendor locked, I'd be interested in seeing them.
You might like the Kobo ebook readers. I have two, and I only had to connect each one to the internet *once* to activate it, and have never connected them since. I side-load my epubs using Calibre (free software). Calibre can also convert between ebook formats, and there are plugins that can make DRM not be a problem. One of my devices has a micro-SD slot, and the other has 32 GB built-in. If I'm using them regularly, I have to charge every month or two. If they're off, maybe every 6 months.
I'd rather just believe that it's done by little elves running around.
