With cash, if the merchant fails to deliver then you are probably out the money; however, if the merchant fails to deliver and you use a credit card (to a lesser extent with a debit card) you can initiate a dispute and many times will receive a credit. Plus, many CC's have return protection, for those stores that do not allow you to return items. Those two benefits alone make CC or PayPal a superior form of payment to cash!
