Being a "Hacker" myself, that is, dealing with crypto programming, tcp/ip, firewalls and other means of securing computers and networks, I'd just like to say that either your post is a very humorous creative essay, or you have a teenage son who likes to play games, be social with online friends, and educate himself in a very lucrative potential career in programming. If your post is for real, you need to do some serious research into the programs and Operating Systems that you mentioned above. While they "can" be used by hackers, 99.999999% of the time they are used by legitimate computer users. Quake as a hacker tool? Give me a break! It is one of the greatest games of all time, and thousands fo avid gamers play and talk online every day. It sounds to me like you found an anti-hacker article on AOL (Stands for "Always Off-Line") by another concerned parent that didn't do his research either. I commend you on being watchful of your childrens computer habits, and being concerned for their welfare; it means you are responsible and truly care, but do some more research before you go off on a rant. From what you said, it sounds to me like your son is a typical teenager and not a hacker. Note: "Hackers" are good. "Crackers" are bad.
