I wouldn't blame protools for any of that. Over-compression is thanks to compression being done at recording time, mixing time, mastering time, then again when it's played on TV or radio. Voice-tuning and over-tuning can be blamed on Antares.

I don't agree with the third point of lifelessness being due to the use of the best parts of a session. The best cuts of a session are the ones with life, swing, and personality. That's the fault of the producer or musician. The same effects used everywhere is due to copycats or producers or engineers with one idea for everything.

None of that is ProTools specific. Sure pro-tools makes it easier but it doesn't make it the problem. Those effects are also VST plugins and hardware modules, so it would all happen with or without pro-tools.
