Cy Guy's Journal: Sad News for Children's Television Fans

It's being reported that Bob Keeshan - known world-wide to millions of children as Captain Kangaroo, passed away yesterday at the age of 76.

Keeshan got his big break in kid TV as Clarabell the Clown on The Howdy Doody Show.

While that was before my time, I know I spent many afternoon watching the Captain on our GIANT 13 inch B/W TV when I was a kid in the 60's.

Kookle Fran and Ollie were killed today when The Trolley ran off the tracks and slammed into Magic Garden. Sigmund and HR Puffinstuff were unavalible for comment.

I remember being amazed to discover that the kindly old Captain K was a young guy in disguise. Later I realized--what a good career strategy--he'll never get too old to do his act. I also have fond memories of Mr Greenjeans and Tom Terrific "greatest hero ever..."
