ATM Vendors Threaten, Stop Research Presentation 134

An anonymous reader writes "A presentation about 'The Underground Economy,' by Italian white hat hacker and security expert Raoul Chiesa, was replaced at the last minute during last week's Hack In The Box conference. The reason behind this cancellation was that Chiesa received legal pressure from ATM vendors over the fact that the originally scheduled presentation covers details of various techniques and exploits of vulnerabilities that cyber criminals use to break into ATMs — flaws that have been known for a long time."

Tabula Rasa Goes Free, Brings New Content 87

Last month we discussed NCSoft's announcement that Tabula Rasa would be closing its doors at the end of February, and their plans to remove the subscription fee for all players in January. Well, they've decided to go completely free a month early, alongside the release of a variety of new content. The game has finally gotten a first-person camera view, something many players have been asking for since launch. A new instance and several other bits of additional content are available as well. NCSoft also previewed player-controlled Mechs and PAUs, which will go live in the next major patch. Ten Ton Hammer has an interview with Net Devil's Scott Brown about the closure of Tabula Rasa.

Inside the Active Volcano On Montserrat 42

Roland Piquepaille writes "An international team of researchers has begun collecting imaging data on the Soufriere Hills Volcano in Montserrat, which has been erupting regularly since 1995. They're using the equivalent of a CAT scan to understand its internal structure and how and when it erupts. The experiment is dubbed SEA-CALIPSO and 'will use air guns and a string of sensors off the back of a research ship combined with sensors on land to try to image the magma chamber.' Early results are surprising. Quoting one of the leading scientists: 'The interesting thing is that much more magma is erupting than appears represented by the subsiding bowl. ... The magma volume in Montserrat eruptions is much larger than anyone would estimate from the surface deformation, because of the elastic storage of magma in what is effectively a huge magma sponge.'"

Let's see...

1) Look at the front. Your sight is now at an imaginary 0 degrees
2) Look at your right (chin on shoulder) your sight is now at an imaginary 90 degrees
3) Keep going right until your head is looking EXACTLY the opposite from step 1. No need to put your chin against your vertebra. Your sight should be at an imaginary 180 degrees from the original position. It might hurt by now, but keep trying!
4) Keep twisting your head right until you can touch your LEFT shoulder with your chin. Thats 270 degrees
5) Go Right a bit more, your sight should be pointing more or less to the same place than in 1) (probably a bit higher). That's 360 degrees.

If you didn't get the irony of this all by now, you should check a doctor. (IANAC, IANAD, IANAP)
