Dell announces the Dell Inspiron Mini. Alas, not much technical or pricing details, but that tiny EEE PC sure started off a revolution. Note that the base edition of the Dell Inspiron Mini comes with Ubuntu 8.04 with customized Dell Interface.

That's cool: mainstream distro, but customized for the small size... Sucks to be an early adopter with my EEE 701 4G... All those new sweet machines that are way better. Oh, well, I still like mine ;-)

Is this finally the revolution Linux has waited for?

  • I just wish I had one of yours. I don't need these $600 versions (like the Toshiba coming out now). I just want the old 701, but it's not available in this country.
    • Well, the reason (apart from liking the idea) I actually bought it was because it was only 285€ (Ignore currency conversions: electronics in the US for 100$, cost 100€ here)

      All others seem to have passed the 300€ mark, and that's too much for me. I don't know what this dell will cost.

      The only two downsides on the 701 are that the screen really is a bit too small, but manageable for mere surfing. Youtube already is a bit too large to fit it correctly. The second is that the sound sucks: t
