AGREE! Trying being a Boomer like me and you will want to eat paint off the wall with this nonsense. How many 6 hours "training" videos do we have to suffer through when the content can be had in a 10 minutes read -- but they forces to watch tedium and NO fast-forwarding, or else.

Comment Workplace BS in a Post-Literacy World (Score 1) 56

Yet another "improved means to an unimproved end" (Thoreau). If your coworker writes crap email, and creates crap PowerPoints, their "Vides" will be crap-squared. The cure is to back up and learn to write (and speak) clearly, and to the point, and when you're done, for Zeus-sake, please, please just STOP talking, ("...um like you know so, um, right, ah, like I said.....) This meeting should last flippin' 3 minutes and we going on a hour here. Corp work is a communications swamp. Now are we so infantilized that we can't do work without objects swooshing, motion, flash and overworked presentations to say something so boring and simple that a sentence or two will do the trick just fine. Who wants to spend their Sunday assembling an animated PowerPoint/Vids, etc. for Monday? I'd rather have my teeth drilled. Our tech lords have decreed we will now use Vids. Resistance is futile.

Comment Re:You talking about Christianity? (Score 1) 143

You clearly have an emotional need to believe Xianity is a force of good. My goodness but this is a highly fanciful list of credits for Christianity. Mark Twain would call it a "stretcher." The 19thc. abolitionist movement neglects the major progressive influence of the Scientific Enlightenment within Christian ecclesiastical thought at this time, meanwhile since slavery is sanctioned in the Bible so the abolitionists had to two-step around (i.e., rationalize) the "problematic" verses. This history of church/religion in history is so twisted and troubling even IF this list were correct, it would be a small drop in a stinking ocean of 2,000 years of psychic damage, torture, extortion, rape, theft, debauchery, atavism, and wars/wars/wars, hatred, darkness and fighting any/all science at each step. Women got a boost? . Women have and still are all over the world a class of slaves and property for control and use. IF this list were true as well, it still would not validate the supernatural claims of your Iron Age religion.
