It was a nice try on the part of (the FSF), but at this stage, I'd say it's not going to be an effective strategy. It will be tough to hold up in court."

The judge's order (pdf) contained eight (8) separate rulings deciding 19 pages of discovery disputes (pdf), resolving virtually all of them in favor of the RIAA."

A radical solution to this problem was proposed in the 80's — instead of storing qubits in properties of particles, such as an electron's spin, they suggested that qubits could be encoded into properties shared by the whole material, and so would be harder to disrupt. Unfortunately, the material needed simply didn't exist. Scientists now think that a material, thought to be an example of a new fourth state of matter, could provide the answer."
