I will probably never "adopt smart homes." Good old metal key to unlock my door, ancient Honeywell dial to control the temperature, refrigerator with no screen or wifi, optical peephole in the door, and TOGGLE SWITCHES FOR LIGHTS.

But I assume beer would cost substantially higher if they did manager to filter PFAS out, so that probably won't happen.
Instead of trying to run those Windows programs with no Linux equivalent on a Linux box with Wine or something, I instead run whatever specialized BASH scripts I need in a.."window."
I was at Qwest long ago when a strike was threatened a couple of times and my former outside tech colleague was scaring me with how the company would force us to do their strikers' work, when I was not trained for it and not even sure I could physically do some of it- slinging big heavy ladders around and climbing poles with a belt and spikes (THAT'S a highly risky skill you don't pick up overnight).
