Except that no one masters CD's to take advantage of this range these days. Most every album is mastered so that it will fit inside the dynamic range of FM radio, unfortunately. Perhaps the move towards vinyl is a protest to this practice?CDs have a much, much higher dynamic range than vinyl. Compare CD's 90db or so to vinyl's 45db on a good turntable.
