ChiRaven's Journal: Initial Entry

OK, I have zero idea what a journal here is supposed to be, but since they were nice enough to suggest that I have one, I suppose I should start one.

As a certified older-than-dirt tech guy (I started writing code when Ike was president) I am gratified beyond words to see something like Slashdot ... where tech-oriented people of all stripes can put up their silly ideas and get them shot down without regard to any silly things like name, rank, serial number, ability, or anything else like that.

It's just a good place to be, and I'm glad to be here.
