gmaestro, I apologise, my comment was not so much ignorant as flippant. I do have some knowledge of the workings of Orchestras and the requirements used to engage musicians, including Percussionists. I do realise that Percussionists play a range of instuments. I really have no knowledge to comment on your second paragraph, so forgive me if I don't.
