What we know as coding is an iterative process of micro plan, micro design, micro test, micro modify - unless the tech spec contains the same or more information about the finished code than the finished code. The more effort studies like this take to micro analyse the work done, the less and less work will appear to be 'coding', until what you are left with is the time spent working the controls of the computer. 47 days is a long time to be clicking and typing - maybe we should be trying to reduce this figure, rather than extend it.
