As an European who have never been to the states (and never will unless CIA throws me in a plane with the acceptance of our intelligence agencies i.e. your lapdogs) i can conclude this from the comments: most of America is fucked and most Americans are fucked up! If your inner cities are really as bad as the movies and comments suggest then maybe you should do something beyond hiding businesses in closed of campuses, retreating to the suburbs and arming yourself to the teeth. And if all these commenters are just scared pussies you probably shouldn't arm them. Whichever it is I couldn't care less if wasn't for the fact that you export everything. Technology (thank you), culture (do we really deserve that?), problems and your insane solutions to said problems.

Now it's not beta that makes /. suck hard but beta-bashing! They have acknowledged it; give them a fucking chance to implement suggestions and get something up and running. Or create your own damn site. You clearly know how to make it perfect and should have a huge user-base from all the whiners here.

Getting real old with all the crap about beta in the comments. Go back to classic with one of the several methods mentioned, spam the feedback mail or leave if you can't stand the smell but at least keep the comments on subject (or whichever subject they eventually end up on :) )

I go to great lengths to avoid ads and I'm flabbergasted when people actually seek them out or discuss the latest in some mind-numbing conversation. But when one is forced upon me and I know that it's gonna pay for itself several times over because enough drones are falling for it my head is friggin about to explode!

Don't give a shit if they started making computers in 1822, would still not waste my money on one of their polished, overpriced turds.

... and people keep voting for them. We get what we deserve.
