Advice from one of my mentors, treat email like a postcard, assume everybody along the delivery route can read it, if they choose to do so.

My wife handles this.
Father-in-law loves it.
Friendly operators, if he falls, or the mobile phone thinks he fell, an operator speaks via "speaker phone" to help.
False positives happen a lot, all good.
They will call you if necessary, will call EMS if needed.
Cheap, $35 a month or so, won't strain the budget.
Cancel anytime. (We inadvertently stopped paying the bill, no problem, NOTHING like some mobile carriers that won't let you cancel....)

In my experience, from public sector to private startups, if you have the chops to do the job and are able to articulate your skills, I'll hire you.
