I Hope I'm posting the correct company here.
My wife handles this.
Father-in-law loves it.
Friendly operators, if he falls, or the mobile phone thinks he fell, an operator speaks via "speaker phone" to help.
False positives happen a lot, all good.
They will call you if necessary, will call EMS if needed.
Cheap, $35 a month or so, won't strain the budget.
Cancel anytime. (We inadvertently stopped paying the bill, no problem, NOTHING like some mobile carriers that won't let you cancel....)

Zotonian writes: My wife is epileptic. Her seizures have been well controlled by medication until recently. My concern is that we have a toddler and infant at home. I've set up cameras so I can monitor the house, but I'm looking for a solution that my 2 year old daughter can hit a button to tell me to look at them if necessary. Most of the options I'm finding off the shelf notify first responders and I'm concerned of the number of false positives a toddler might initiate. Other solutions like cellphones or wearables for kids are too overloaded with unnecessary options like GPS, phone, games, etc. I'd rather have a simple "push button" solution I can wire into my router that would send me a text or chat message that alerts me to check the cameras. Then if there is an actually emergency I can take the steps from there. I'm looking for cheap and simple. Any suggestions from the Slashdot community?

Creationism, Intelligent Design, whatever. I am reminded of one of the annual International Molecular Biologist's conventions where the hot topic was a sequence of the Human Genome which appeared to have been "gene spliced". Huh? Somebody spliced human genes -- sometime back in what we consider to be ancient history, these top scientists were discussing a fact that several had stumbled across what could only be a gene splice in our DNA. Not evolutionary, this appears exactly like the results of what these people do to earn their living.
Do some googling on the Nephilum, Ananoki, Sumerian, read about the researchers who are still in the process of translating the old clay tablets, learn the difference between the "gods" titled with a little "g" and "God" - they portraied as different entities, little "g" gods were scienctists & engineers, not God. This stuff sort of blows away the fairy tales found in the Christian Bible, Tora & other religious documents.
