New iMac, Mac Mini Benchmarks Show Changes Are Slight 200

jfpoole writes "Primate Labs has posted some preliminary benchmarks of the new iMacs and Mac minis. They found that processor speed is virtually unchanged between the older and newer models. Clearly these new Macs are minor updates rather than the major upgrades many Mac users were hoping for." As reader olddotter points out, there are changes, also slight, to the new Mini's case.

A Real Bill Gates Rant 293

lou ibmix XI submitted an email written by Bill Gates a few years ago and turned over to the feds as part of the government's antitrust case. Great quotes like 'Someone decided to trash the one part of Windows that was usable?' and 'The lack of attention to usability represented by these experiences blows my mind.' We like to think of him as an abstract, but I think this is interesting stuff. Also, this might seem familiar. Oops.

Yeah, because Easynews and the hundreds of companies like them were shut down so fast for the exact same thing.

The difference here is GUBA is shouting from the rooftops that they're hosting copyrighted files. Easynews, Giganews, etc., all kept it relatively obscure, just saying "we index all of Usenet" which was understood by smart users and generally ignored by everyone else. Now all of the basic users who are just now figuring out how Bitorrent works are going to say, "Wha? I can get music and movies on Usenet?" and, frankly, where the basic users go, so goes the RIAA.
