Even ignoring the algorithm suggested news and ads, I can't even use it to keep up with family and friends anymore. Between the handful of friends I respected posting angry hateful crap and the phone calls to my mother about reposting obvious fake news, I just gave up on Facebook outside of buy/selling things on Marketplace from time to time (although Marketplace is terrible for different reasons). My profile page has a big photo at the top that says I never check it and to just send me a text if you want to catch up. My "posts" are pretty much limited to website comment threads and social media consumption is TikTok, where the algorithm is at least smart enough to provide me with a better mix of my interests and humor without all the baggage. As much as I hated how Facebook and Instagram turned into friends and family just trying to impress each other with how artificially great their lives were or pointless photos of their lunch, but I'd love to go back to that point.

Also - it was not really possible to feel how small the phone was.

I had to go out to Best Buy recently and finally had a chance to hold one. The mini will be my next phone. I forgot how great it was to hold a phone that doesn't feel like it's about to hop out of my hand or require finger contortions to use with one hand.

Is that a rip-off Tardis interior I see (I guess they didn't want to pay for the rights)? Interesting that they choose a property which I got into by downloading (that was the only way to watch it at the time) and have since spent hundreds of dollars purchasing Doctor Who DVDs, CDs, books, and collectables.
