Without question, the biggest threat to true Open Source Software is from the less-than-free software groups. Groups such as the BSDs, for example, who create some very excellent software and then distribute it under the guise of Open Source, when it is the very opposite of what we at the Open Source Initiative are trying to promote.
And to answer the obvious follow up of "What can we do about it?" -- You can promote awareness through reason and sensible discussion. Zealotry and baseless fanatacism helps no one, and only portrays our community in a poor light.
And, of course, openly supporting the truly free, GNU-based Open Source Software, such as Linux and Apache.
