Comment Re:clean? perhaps, quiet? not a chance (Score 1) 41

As if planes, trains and cars are so quiet. There's very few places you can go and not hear aircraft and trains have to blow horns that can be heard for miles (not to mention deafening nearby occupants. Cars do the same thing. You can an interstate drone for miles, especially in remote areas.

Comment A replacement for commuter rail? (Score 1) 41

I can envision large fleets of these vehicles replacing commuter rail systems. No need for dedicated physical lines when you could hit different communities not currently served by mass transit. Combine ride sharing algorithms with this and you could have a less expensive and more flexible system than anything we currently have.

How about morons that read the New York Times? https://www.nytimes.com/2021/0... In terms of shoplifting, it's hard to take national crime rates and apply that to a local area. When you look at local data, there are places that are seeing increases that are causing managers to take actions. Comment Portland has temps over 100 for over 70 years (Score 2) 220

Looking at Portland's record temperatures show temperatures in the 100s going back to at least the 1940s. Even if the oil companies are responsible for higher temperatures, the region has had 70+ years to provide some resiliency and avoid costs for dealing with high temperatures. You know this is going to happen and even if the oil companies stopped today they would still see them. It's not the oil companies fault for the decisions that they made to not be able to deal with temperatures like that.

Comment The entire system was enacted by Republicans? (Score 1) 192

You might want to fact check that the entire TSA system was enacted by Republicans. A simple search can show you who sponsored a bill and who voted for or against it. This was a bipartisan effort with 22 Democrats and only 8 Republicans: https://www.congress.gov/bill/... Facts matter.

That would only work for so long. If it relies on uploaded content to generate new content and uploaded content is not shown, people will stop uploading content and the generated content will become stale. That would push users away and since that would affect negatively revenue, I don't think that will happen.

In that one room the parents had sex. Right besides their old folk and the children. Sometimes the old folk had energy to have sex too. And yes, the children were frequently awake and watching. That includes all of you great-great-great-...-great-grandparents, and all their ancestors.

Besides that, almost all children worked in animal husbandry, helping quite directly several species of domesticated animals to mate, from goats and sheep to cattle and horses. What they saw when doing that was no different from what they saw their parents and grandparents doing at night.

Do you really think parents were sharing intimate moments in-front of everyone? You don't think that they waited for the cover darkness and did it quietly or went off somewhere private to have that moment? Kids know what is happening. They don't have to see it to know. As you point out, they would have been exposed to animal husbandry. They didn't need to watch their parents or grandparents openly do it. I highly doubt that everyone was sitting around watching each other but you're welcome to your opinion.
