Journal: First moderation points

Wow, October 14th, 2002 will from now on be known as the first day I received moderator privileges on slashdot.

I was so surprised when I first logged in today and saw that magical message granting me 5 points of semi-omnipotence. I thought, "what a wonderful day this is, I shall have to remember the date forever."

Then I checked my email. I had two emails from my father reminding me that it was my mother's birthday. And of course implicitly reminding me that hell hath no fury like a woman's scorn for a son who forgets to call on her birthday.

Well, now thanks to slashdot, I'll never forget my mom's birthday again.
