I had a W7 system I activated with no hardware changes whatsoever. The only exception was I unlocked my X3 AMD to an X4 with no issues. Realised the only problem the 4th CPU had was terrible physics in Borderlands 2...limbs would randomly twitch. I turned the lock back on and that single change in my CPU required reactivation. Annoying, but I didn't have to call in.

Submission + - Typical Home Bandwidth Usage 1

Broadband writes: With a growing number of internet service providers imposing hard bandwidth caps, I too will soon find myself with a limit. In typical Slashdot fashion I use the internet for everything from movie streaming to online backup and just realized I have no idea how much data traverses through my pipes on a monthly basis. While I have wizened up and installed a bandwidth monitoring solution, it'll be quite some time until I have a normalized average. So my question is: What is the average monthly data usage in your household? How many people share the connection and is there anything you've found essential yet bandwidth intensive that you couldn't live without? (eg. VOIP, movie downloads, streaming audio, etc)

This was changed back during the summer.

It's $59.99 a month for EVDO high-speed internet whether you have a qualifying voice line or not.

Given the fact that the service covers over 280 million people makes it worth a little extra. I doubt Verizon would charge you less for their data plans if you decide to use a non-standard handset.
