mikejuk writes: The final round of the 23rd annual Loebner Prize competion took place in Londonderry, Northern Ireland 24th September with four chatbots hoping to convince four judges that they were humans. Mitsuku, a chatbot that is kept busy chatting to people around the world, was awarded this year's bronze medal.
Mitsuku's botmaster, Steve Worswick, used to run a music website. Once he added a chatbot he discovered more people visited to chat than for music so he concentrated all his efforts on the bot but he still regards it as a hobby. Mitsuku uses AIML (Artificial Intelligence Markup Language) and is a pandorabot, based on the free open-source-based community webservice the enables anyone who wants to, to develop and publish chatbots on the web.

angry tapir writes "SAP has agreed to pay Oracle US$306 million in connection with the corporate-theft case that Oracle filed against it and a former SAP subsidiary in 2007, according to a filing made Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The long-running legal dispute centers on illegal downloads of Oracle software and support materials by SAP subsidiary TomorrowNow, which offered lower-cost support services for Oracle software. SAP admitted liability for actions taken by TomorrowNow workers, and a jury awarded Oracle US$1.3 billion in damages in November 2010." The $1.3 billion fine was overturned shortly after, causing more months of litigation.

When the human race will be terminated, and robots will build their civilization on our ruins I don't think they will consider themselves to possess any actual intelligence.

Even if the primary goal of aneutronic fusion fails, and even the neutronic reaction is not net-positive, you can still use this design to generate neutrons to burn nuclear waste at sub-critical fission plant.

The real problem is that xandros releace that comes with eee pc sux like a vacum cleaner. No repositories, no desktop, no home folder, no start button. +bugs and no updates that fix them. My friend who got this on her laptop is very unhappy. You want a normal distribution try eeexubuntu instead.
