Comment Re:Contribution to society? (Score 1) 260

It helps investors to quickly buy and sell securities for a fair price. Of course most members of society don't invest themselves but somebody else does for them. For example: your pension fund invests your money in securities for you. Another example: Corporations that sell commodities and want to hedge their income stream. If they can secure a good price for their products they can focus on what they do best: produce.

As the whole team will be down under while the kernel is being tested by the masses, Linus added, "Let's hope it's a good one". What's new in the latest release includes an optimized CFQ scheduler, numerous new wireless drivers, tickless kernel support for the x86-64 and PPC architectures, and much more. Time to download and start compiling."

Walking Molecule Now Carries Packages 108

Roland Piquepaille writes "Chemists from the University of California at Riverside designed two years ago a molecule which could move straight on a flat surface — a nano-walker if you wish. Now, they've found a way to force this walking molecule to carry packages. The nano-worker can now carry two CO2 molecules. And like yourself when you carry two heavy bags, this nano-worker is slower when it carries other molecules. The researchers think their discovery will lead to reliable ways of carrying molecules, an equivalent of the conveyor belts in today's factories."

Some of the notable new features are enabling :hover for all elements, and implementing position:fixed, and PNG transparency support. In addition, there is a long list of fixed bugs that plagued previous IE browsers for years.
