My family is not wealthy but we have what we need. We give away a minimum of 10% of our gross income and we don't miss it one bit. This Christmas we spent more time and money sponsoring a family in need than we did on ourselves and it was the best Christmas that I can remember. Something special happens when you start putting other people and their needs above yourself and I wish more people would choose to experience it.

EVE-Online Patch Makes XP Unbootable 572
Nobo writes "CCP's latest major patch to the EVE-Online client, Trinity, comes with an optional DX9-enhanced graphics patch that dramatically improves the visual quality of the in-game graphics through remade models, textures, and HDR. It also has an unfortunate bug: the incredibly stupid choice of boot.ini as a game configuration file, coupled with an errant extra backslash in the installer configuration. The result is that anyone who installs the enhanced graphics patch overwrites the windows XP c:\boot.ini file with the EVE client configuration file, bricking the machine on the next boot. Discussion in a couple of forums threads is becoming understandably heated."
Comment Fujitsu Drive Failure (Score 1) 736
I've experienced 100% failure rate in drives I've been getting in machines from a local dealer. They've all been fujitsu. I didn't actually make the connection until I saw this story. The drives work fine for about a year and then completely die. In contrast, I've got maxtor drives in servers that have been running 24/7 for upwards of 4 years.
