Designed for telco hops in cities and enterprise. Also -- about sat links: Teledesic promises to have a worldwide network capable of supporting 1 mil simultaneous broadband users by 2004. We're not talking about wimpy Iridium's pitifull 66 birds here -- their plan calls for 300. This is a fixed wireless solution, not mobile. It's designed to deliver very high speed connections to homes and businesses providing voice, video, and data at speeds between 2Mbps and 64Mbps. I don't think it's hype, seeing as though it has big backers (of course Bill G is famous for stupid hotair, look @ the X-box). Teledesic will have a few features similar to Iridium, like intra-satilite communication and routing. No, I'm not an investor -- I only wish I was.
