Comment Going cross platform? (Score 3, Insightful) 21

I think the only way big investment dollars appear for the next Halo are if it goes cross platform, and with what we know of Microsoft being relatively sensible accountants rather than gamer obsessed, I think this is a clear sign of a shift in first party development to makes Halo for everyone.

I'm sure this opinion might make people a little upset, but I think going to unreal is likely the signal that they do not want to make hardware specific first party games anymore.

If a Waymo car causes an accident that could cause injury, but has no passenger, its not included in the type of stat they report.

The fairest way to compare (including all crashes might unfairly bias against Waymo due to how minor incidents wouldn't always be reported by people), is to ask how many of those 22 million miles have contained passengers?

Solar never gets lugged with battery requirements in these direct comparisons - which are currently very large for minimal capacity (2hs).

Until we properly look at what the future state is we will continue to progress down a path that is frighteningly unrealistic.

I mean I cannot blame the people for this.

Using special powers to reject the democratic vote of parliament during peacetime on a matter than clearly isn't what the people want either, had created what we all should expect to see - A rejection of law and government by the people.

Its fully within the realms of possibility for AI to make you write this very submission without you ever knowing.

We all should be scared of that.

So far microsoft has been a reasonable player in letting everything be cross platform and even cross play.

Everything? Microsoft has made things cross platform within its own platforms. Windows, XBox

If we as a society start modifying the mix of behavioural types of people, we will soon find out that we are a sledge hammer on a pin.

I'd pose the question: do we not think there are certain characteristics in humanity that have values just as highly regarded and important to society; but that would also be more likely _not_ to go to the best college?

Those new open systems--ORC from Paizo/Black Flag from Kobold Press--aren't for WoTC to license their own content under.

If they publish content for wizards systems without any license, then it will go to legal you would imagine. I think you have some hyperboles in your comments about DND, and honestly its part of the problem I see everywhere.

If people believe that DND is popular only because of OGL and those other big publishers (and if Paizo put their money where their mouth is) then I guess we will have an answer soon enough.

Comment I just want them to work it out. (Score 1) 181

There is certainly a lot of valid and invalid arguments flying around. I personally understand why it was leaked and the outrage tickets got stamped and posted by social media (its great for that), but I also don't think its particularly balanced in how its reported. I don't think there is a consensus among D&D players that they are all against wizards, certainly some feel like the terms are not the egregious with the arguments that it doesn't effect the vast majority of them who make content for the joy of it - and the idea for many that wizards would use their stuff in the official game is also something people mentioned on forums as things people would actually be thrilled about, which is amusing - but understandable from an individuals perspective. I think for those 20 or so big publishers, its clearly very disruptive and borderline untenable in its current form, and so its unsurprising that they would of leaked it and a campaign for change got under way. Personally, while I don't mind that wizards might want to get some kind of monetary rewards from these large organisation that effectively have become their competition leaning on what they have built, I think the license back part (with no compensation to the owner) is an absolutely flawed approach and unfair to an existing large publishing company. I like the change the wizards seem to have put out, and you can bet you bottom dollar that Paizo are praying for it. A new Paizo designed license means nothing unless its the one wizard adopts it (which is just not plausible). All the noise the big publishers make right now is 'negotiation' by doing the only thing they can, which is by taking advantage of as much sentiment as they can for and against the brands involved. Sure some _will_ make new systems, but starting out from scratch will be a quick lesson in player base economics. I just hope they all work it out, that wizards backs down a fair bit, and that wizards and those 20 big publishers make peace with the communities, because its just going to create rifts with players moving forward.
