Any nation where there is no freedom of the press, documented mass censorship, and house arrest and persecution of individuals who speak out against the government, should rightfully have the credibility of any statements and claims questioned. How can one logically conclude otherwise?

No one will question your logic, because confirmation of those statements might destroy the fabricated reality they live in.

Microsoft's actions potentially violated multiple criminal laws: Criminal Code Section 430 (Mischief): - Willfully rendering computer data useless (that all-zeros file) - Interfering with lawful computer use - Creating danger to life (hospitals, airlines, infrastructure) - Failing basic duty of care in software deployment Criminal Code Section 346 (Extortion): - Forcing users to accept potentially damaging updates - Creating a situation requiring payment to restore function - Holding systems hostage through mandatory updates - Requiring financial remedy for damage they caused Criminal Code Section 380 (Fraud): - Knowingly deploying defective updates - Misrepresenting update safety - Causing financial loss through deception - Concealing the true nature of updates What makes this criminal-level negligence: - Updates cannot be disabled (like removing brakes from cars) - The file was obviously corrupt (like driving 100mph knowing your brakes don't work) - Basic security checks were bypassed (removing all safety measures) - Users had no way to protect themselves - The damage was predictable and widespread Why their EULA offers no protection: - Criminal liability cannot be waived by contract - Willful negligence voids contractual protections - Public safety implications override private agreements - Forced compliance removes user choice If you were affected, consider documenting: - All damages and repair costs - Error messages and logs - Timeline of events - Financial impacts - Business interruption losses

Yes, perhaps have the submitted papers reviewed by the scientist's peers. You could call it "peer review", that's catchy.

I thought I was supposed to trust the science.

Comment UBI cannot succeed without balance (Score 1) 249

You cannot just give a random group of people a "bonus" while the other is expected to carry the burden. The simplest solution might rather be a wage supplement, and the key part which funds it, an infinite coffer for infrastructure and development only controlled and disbursed by publicly elected municipalities/counties/provinces . This way you can give the UBI, and the working person, gets a wage benefit of their current wage with 1% bonus cumulative per year, with 5% every 5 years. This encourages people to stay at their job and become masters of their trade. School, being infrastructure becomes free. You pay people a tiny percent of the profit from the sale for the portion of products made with people's patents out of the coffer to encourage invention. It becomes necessary to lock commodity and resource prices for countries using this system with markup rules against physical products, while implementing a side by side digital dollar equivalent to the country dollar. Forex is locked on implementation in the host country, with external debts and trades paid by products and resources and potential labour. Trade can be made against potential future stock. Companies no longer have to give raises, the supplement does that. Environmental upgrades are paid by the coffer to businesses to immediately implement, saving the environment Energy sector businesses have access to the infinite coffer for construction, however, gas, electricity, water, waste management etc is free. Companies earn profit based on untaxed distribution formulaicly against infinite coffer payouts to employees. Contracts for infrastructure construction are granted based on longevity and quality rather than just cost for material. The goal is to usher in a golden age. There are several loopholes and stop checks that need to be in place, like politicians are paid from the coffer, politicians who lie forfeit their jobs after x number of incidents. Lobbying is illegal. A universal set of rights recognized NOT granted by the governments using this system. Military, fire, police, education, all have access to funding after approval of product and concept within new stop check rules by the public and secretly vetted for security purposes. If the public don't approve the project, it doesn't get funding. Multi level security and oversight with vetted public approval boards are created for approval of top secret operations. Businesses may present business plans for approval by the infrastructure board for funding to create them. These businesses who use funding for creation are randomly frequented by "IRS" like agents who assess and ensure the business is operating as described. The new infinite coffer currency is digital and fully traceable. Hospitals free. People like Martin Shrekli become irrelevant. All patents are free to access and use, based on security oversight. There are thousands of more details required to discuss and implement to use an infinite coffer system which would allow an UBI to be implemented, but not now and at the cost of someone else's labour, that is slavery. If we want to reach the stars, we have to be willing to work on a new system together, like an open programming project, put the good things in there and the stop checks to prevent abuse and the redundant safeguards to prevent failure. My 2 cents
