If it were just people talking then it wouldn't be a problem. But it's not. Between bots spewing out whatever their owners want en mass and Facebook's algorithms manipulating what speech people see it is absolutely not just people talking.

That has to do with our government's insistence on propping up the corn and sugar industries by giving them subsidies, making unhealthy food the cheapest option. We load sugar or high fructose corn syrup into just about everything. Another factor is how we've been building everything to be dependent on cars for the last several decades. No one walks to the store anymore. What it doesn't have anything to do with is insurance.

Depending on social norms to make up for a lack of rules is how we've ended up with a system where politicians are allowed to pick their voters, parties that heavily manipulate who you can even vote for, and the non-functioning mess that is congress.

China had so much influence because WHO can't actually do things inside of countries without those countries permission. They want to investigate the virus in China? They need China's cooperation.

Polls are not election tampering. Reporting on them is. They are the reason that people jump onto bandwagons, thinking that the person they actually like can't win, so voting for them is a waste of time.

Polls tamper with elections, because they encourage people to vote for who they think can win instead of who they want to win.
