Sprint service is still running, but at the moment new customers can't sign up for it. Their homepage displays the message "We are suspending our effort to acquire new residential and commercial Sprint Broadband Direct customers. If you are a current Sprint Broadband Direct customer this will not affect you."

This could be the beginning of the end, or it could be limiting their customer base until they have the bandwidth in place to grow, or it could be the beginning of a transition to Earthlink... Mmmmm... Endless speculation....
