I also am very upset by Sen. Obama's vote on the FISA bill, in particular, the Telecom Amnesty section. But, then I started thinking "He's supposedly has some pretty smart people working for him. If I were there, I would have been telling him that it would be a BAD idea to vote for this bill, citing many of the reasons mentioned here. So, what could possibly cause Sen. Obama to vote for it?" Well, I thought, what if, in giving telecoms retroactive immunity, they would now be obligated to testify, if subpoenaed, against any Administration staffers/appointees who may be brought up on charges? They couldn't claim self-incrimination, they have immunity! Just food for thought.
