Japanese arcades are just like Jillian's in the US, but with brigher lights and loud Euro-beat pumping from endless Beat Mania clones. I've been living in Japan for a while now and Japanese game centers are nothing to write home about if you're into the old classics a la Missile Command, Time Pilot, etc. If you're into the newest, the latest-and-greatest, like the Naomi2 board or whatnot, Japanese game centers are the playground of SEGA and Namco. It's not that easy for me to compare US and Japanese game centers, but I am also disapointed in the direction that American arcades are taking. I think the last great game that Midway did was MK1 but that's just me. Either way, it sadens me to think that companies like Capcom may take over the arcades, as if we didn't have enough SF2 clones out there...
