Apple doesn't want to shove tablet apps onto the desktop. They are preemptively cross compiling for multiple architectures which hints at leaving the x86 family and toward ARM based like their iPhones. They did it with PowerPC in early 2000 and they'll do it again, they rode the Intel Mhz war and jumping off when Moores laws maxed out.

Sure the patutor in the right setting like a one hour drop in lab can be a good tutor. Broderbund Math Blaster was great at that, Mavis teaches typing good job, Tetris was good at basic geometry and spacial awareness, etc. An iphone or ipad for every child 24/7/365, maybe not so much.
